Your right it's not the carbine model, but it is a carbine. It's marked 39M not Mountie but, I consider any 20" a carbine. Just of a figure of speach. I wasn't trying to be technical. The carbine model had a 3/4 mag tube of which 9695 were produced from 1963-67. There's many things Marlin has dropped from the rollstamp over the years. A 39M is a Mountie although not marked and mine is a carbine variation which would be a 20" barrel. A straight stocked 30-30 is a texan marked or not. There's 336c, rc and just plain 336 all the same regular carbine. I guess I stand to be corrected.

Very Nice, Lever Addict. Is the gun "new to you" and how does it shoot?

And speaking of 336 Texan's, I bought one NIB way back in '67 or '68. Very nicely figured wood. Like a fool I traded it off a couple years later. I was young and foolish. But I've kicked myself many times since then for doing it.:(

Fullchoke the gun has been in my family since new. It belonged to my Uncle. I just got it from my cousin a few months ago who had no interest in guns. It was sitting hidden in a closet. Yes it's a shooter. I think many of us have let go of a firearm that they regret I know I have!

M141a that's a beautiful 39 you got there!:D I wish I could still use the irons. I just put a Williams 5D on mine and It's a little better than factories for me.
