This is more of a rant than anything. The big gun and knife show was in Sharonville, Ohio this past weekend. I have never been to one, talked about going forever. Finally took my youngest son who is 12.

There was a previous discussion on the board here before about safety and how parents don't pay attention to kids just picking up guns and pulling triggers and the sort. So I didn't give the boy any instruction before going just thought I would see how much of the things I've taught has sunk in. Well I was one proud pappa, he would ask a vender if he could pick up and then finger pointing outside the trigger guard. I mean I was just beaming, then I started watching other people and was blown how many people were walking around with their fingers on the triggers, I MEAN LIKE EVERY **** PERSON "WTH"!!!!!!!! even when we were pulling out of the parking lot some tool was carrying what looked like a Colt Python with his finger on the trigger crossing the street.

This is why gun owners get such a bad rap and stupid accidents happen. KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT OF THE GD TRIGGER WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay feel better now. Thanks for listening.

Boy, your post brings back memories! It sure is rather un-nerving. Before my cousin pulled the plug on winter forever and moved to Florida, he would run three gun shows yearly here in PA. I was always there helping him with his own table. He and I and everyone else at the table would constantly check chambers and we politely requested the vendors do the same. I've been to hundreds of gun shows in my time and happily welcomed the now common practice of promoters requiring wrap-ties that hold the trigger back against the guard. Worse than seeing fingers on triggers was hearing all those firing pins falling!

Gun show AD

I'm a gunshow regular attendee and occasional exhibitor. Once, at the SF Cow Palace, (where the right to hold gun shows is under constant fire), an exhibitor at a table about 15 feet from mine discharged a pistol--at least he was pointing it at a drain in the floor at the time--but needless to say the result could have been tragic. At the very least, gun shows in SF and probably the state of CA would be history. The exhibitor was given about 10 min. to pack up and was escorted out. Close call!

Been in one where an attendee shot a vendor in the leg. It was loud, and I headed out the door after that. Could have heard a pin drop right after the shot (for those that could hear).

The wire wraps on triggers sounds like a good bet for safety.
Some anti gun nut could come in and place a live round in a weapon to discredit the show.

I really feel like the gun show and the venders have done a tremendous job in safety, by tie rapping actions and cabling guns together, checking every firearm to make sure it is unloaded that gets brought in. We really enjoyed going and will go again, seen some good buys for sure.

I went to the february gun show in greensboro, nc. My kids did exactly as they have been instructed. What surprised and angered me was the amount of "adults" that were covering everyone with their muzzles. One guy was selling a rifle and the guy looking at it was pointing it at me and everyone who walked where he was aiming. OMG! I know that the guns are checked at the door, but that doesn't mean some idiot didn't load his up when he got inside. Plus it violates the safety rules of never point a gun at anything you don't wish to destroy and treat ALL guns as if they were loaded. *End Rant*
