My father's rifle from the 1980s has a one piece Redfield scope mount with the dovetail and windage screw system. I took it into the gunsmith for new Leupold rings and he installed the scope and put new screws in the base. After doing some research on the Redfield mount system I was getting information that the windage screws can come loose resulting in the rear ring coming loose. This happens more with heavier .30 calibers such as the 300 WSW. Well, last night I got the rifle out just to take a look and noticed the gunsmith had put some sort of epoxy/glue around the windage screws. I didn't ask him to do that but I'm sure he did it for extra strength and the fact I would probably do all windage adjustment with the scope. Here are some pics:
