February 14, 2003. Today it was reported that severe earthquakes have
occurred in 10 different locations in France. The severity was measured
in excess of 10 on the Richter Scale. The cause was the 56,681 dead
American soldiers buried in French soil turning over in their graves.
According to the American Battle Monuments Commission there are 26,255
Yankee dead from World War I buried in 4 cemeteries in France. There
are
30,426 American dead from World War II buried in 6 cemeteries in
France.
These 56,681 brave American heroes died in their youth to liberate a
country which is guilty of shameful unspeakable behavior in the 21st
century.
May the United States of America never forget their sacrifice as we
find ways to forcefully deal with the Godforsaken unappreciative,
forgetful country of France!

A.J.,

Having two uncles amoung the WWII citizens you reference, I can appreciate the sentiment, but with that said, I do think we should honor the following request stated in the top post in this section:

"From Marshall Stanton, owner of this website and forum:

-----------
As far as political commentaries go on the forums, I would appreciate a focus on gun/2nd amendment/hunting issues being the limit to political orientation of the forums.
-----------

Thank you all for your cooperation."

Thank you,

Dan

Hey A.J.,
Don't take it personally! We're not trying to be unforgiving, it just seems that in these tense times several threads of a political nature have required a lot of moderating to keep people from cursing and flaming each other. I'm sure many members appreciate your post. We just want to keep the focus on shooting.

Thanks for being a member. Please don't feel discouraged from posting! We're just tryin' to keep the place civil...

A.J., a further note (to everyone else as well), if you see something that you feel is inappropriate, please use the 'report this post to a moderator' link in the lower right hand corner of any thread to send a message to the moderators.

Or just PM any of us.

I've been guilty in this respect too so don't feel bad!!!!

IDshooter and MikeG, thanks for your input. Because I did take it personal. You are right, these are tense times and like many proud Americans I tend to bash anything that is anti-American. Once again, thanks for responding.

My initial comment about having two uncles killed in action in France makes it a very heart felt issue for me, and I do understand everyone's feelings about our "allies (NOT)", the French. But as indicated, we were losing control of the family level of intercourse on the site.

We try very hard to be even handed and fair and I would be personally very disappointed if we didn't continue to see a lot of posts from you in the future. Besides, you can get even with me when your Ohio State Buckeyes play Iowa.

If you haven't already, you should start boycotting French products.

A good list can be found here: www.metrospy.com

I have also canceled my account at the video store and my cable premium channels in response to those anti-american hacks in hollywood.

Luckily I can't stand the Dixie Chicks so I have no CDs to burn

DOK, no harm done. It was posted in good faith. Regarding the Buckeyes. I usually root for the other team. The team has always been kinda cocky (here in Columbus). But I have to admit, they 'talked the talk' and 'walked the walk' this year. The head coach is a likeable and very articular person. He seems to know his football. Enough of that. I will continue to post questions and view answers on this forum. IMO it is one of the better gunsight forums.

Doc, I had an uncle come back from the Battle of the BULGE, and also many of the Island campaigns. It was obvious he was not the same when he came home. He was very tight lipped about the service and what he had seen. I was not tight with him as he would not let anybody get close to him. this was a shame, he had a lot of history he could have taught us welps growing up. Alot of this I will never understand. If ever I have a chance to teach someone something I will fall over backwards trying, I think that is the way most of us here are. The way it should be.

A.J.,

Thanks for understanding.

halfbreed,

Thanks for sharing. I contributed my three years and now, as the president speaks, I can only think about the men and women going in harms way. I will need to find a parent, or wife or husband that I can help as best I can.

Dok, I joined the USMC in 83'. I was thrown out on a pre - existing medical condition. I should have never played high school football.
I trained with a lot of young soldiers who were killed in the Beirut bombing, this is where I would have been if I had not been thrown out.
We all pray for our soldiers out there. And kind of adopt the families who are here by themselves for now. I really do not know of a different way to do things.
Help those we can, and pray for those we can't help in any other way.

I heard in a quick news blurb on Sunday that some senator or elected official has proposed the United States EXHUME ALL of our service men from the French soil and bring them home.......

Hmmmm......
