A number of States are already keeping a registry as mentioned in the article. When that happened who really had any doubt it would be given to the Feds? This is not new it's just been creeping up slowly so it won't get as much opposition. Once this was started it was too late to stop.
When people give away their freedoms for the idea of protection by the state they deserve what they get.

That's what has always amazed me at the CCW 'craze'. Why give somebody reason to come looking for a gun?

I wouldn't bother with CCW if the government would follow the 2nd as intended. :D

As voters and citizens we should keep a couple facts in mind; Canada had registration, but gave up on it when not one crime was ever solved because of it, with all the work and $$ spent on it.

They tried it, they no longer bother. Why should we bother?

We shouldn't, and it won't solve anything, and it will be a colossal waste of money, but that won't stop the anti-gun left from doing it anyway. "If it harasses just one law-abiding gun owner...." ought to be the start of their new slogan.

A liberal will pursue-- with your money-- a disastrously failed policy because "the right people weren't prosecuting it." Soviet-style Communism failed there because the right people weren't in charge of it. There are those here in the US who believe Soviet-style Communism can succeed-- if only the (allegedly) "best minds" Harvard, Yale and any/many of the other Ivy League college professors are in charge of transforming a constitutional republic into a socialist welfare state with iron-fisted, top-down, command and control government that knows how much toilet paper you used during your last visit to the head. Yes, indeed. Communism works. It just has to be administered by the right people. There's one running for my White House. This candidate wears a pantsuit...

When will they ever realize that the crims don't register their guns. The whole registration is b......t.
They know that. The idea is to cast a very wide net that may get one or two odd criminals for disobeying the law. That your Rights are limited or erased does not matter to the likes of Feinswine and Harry Greid. In fact, I'd posit they like such a diminution of your Freedom. They are of the "Government is always right" mindset. I'd even hazard to go so far as to say they are of the "Larger government is always more right" mindset. They are autocrats. Your Freedom matters not to them. That government grow larger, more powerful, more obtrusive and more intrusive is what matters to them. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." Words more true were never spoken...

You are right of course. The powers that be, believe that unarmed people are easier to govern since they have all the power. They are so very wrong. In 1956, October 23rd in Hungary unarmed people rose up against the dictatorial government of the day. I was there, and it was amazing how weapons appeared in the hands of the revolutionaries. There was no legal gun ownership for the people at that time, with a few exceptions for party members, an illegal firearm could get you up to 10 years in a labour camp or you could disappear for ever. Yet it happened that the people armed themselves.
I was 11 years old at the time but the lessons I learned then will stay with me for ever

John Lott lost all his credibility long ago. He is not intellectually honest.

He would do us a great service if he would simply remain silent.

in a twisted dark view, I bet the registration people forgot one thing.

The list will let them know where to collect all the dead bodies laying in the streets. If and when it comes to confiscation thru registration, there will be out right WAR on the streets of Amerika.

And so would you.

Bye Jammer Six. We have had enough of your trolling.

Write your own book(s) about how great gun control is, if you want to rebut John Lott. I'm sure your fellow gun-control advocates will love them.

I have been around longer than most, trading for my first gun of my own in 1951,and have been buying and selling since.I remember when I bought guns through the mail and at times I would go to the Post Office after hours and pick up a gun I bought. Now look at what you have go through to buy one and like Ca the waiting period the paper work.Buying a handgun is unreal.
The Liberals will wait and little by little our rights are eroding.Remember the Frog and frying pan guess who we are.I moved from the Socialist state of Ca to Montana a state with some freedoms still left, but I see that slowly changing as more Liberals from Hollyweird moves in.The long and short is we will lose our rights but not all at once,it may take another 20 years but it will happen.Look at what has taken place within the last 6 months from our fearless leader,he has been busy right under our nose.

The national firearm registry will not fly because of the Tenth Amendment, which gives individual states the right to enact firearm laws which don't infringe on the Second.
The State of Florida registers people, not firearms.
I'm registered as a person who has the right to carry concealed, Florida does not ask how many handguns I own.
States Rights.
