Personally I would chose the Ruger Redhawk. Either the 44 mag or 45 Colt will do anything that needs to be done. The 45 Colt can be loaded to very high pressures (see the article titled Rugers Big 45 on the homepage), use the heavy weight bullets, and take any game you care to hunt. The guns are brutally strong and a bit cheaper than the Taurus from the prices in my neck of the woods.
The Redhawk may not be the latest on the scene but its one of the best.
