Have you contacted Ruger?  My buddy kept his original rear but put a "high vis" sight on the front from Ruger.  Hope this helps. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://beartoothbullets.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

I have been wanting a high vis front site for my blackhawk also and am having trouble finding one the Ruger site shows them for the redhawk but not the blackhawk. Bowen has them I think but the site doesn't show a picture and I am not sure if it is what I want or not, I bought some site paint at a gun show and tried it but it did not stick real well.

I used the floresant paint kit a friend had and to my surprise it worked. There was a primer and then the paint and I think I remember some prep work as part of the instructions. It really has helped so far to improve my accuracy and it has stayed on through numerous cleanings. I still may widen the rear sight a touch but I am satisfied for now. I painted the rear and front sight. I tried just the front and it did not work as well for me. It really helps to see the sights in low light.

A wider rear notch really helps in low-light situations.  I have modified most of my hunting revolvers this way.

Good point, Chief.
