I need some help from experienced Encore owner on here. I had a 12” bull barrel in .454 Casull lined up and ready to buy, the owner came back from deer camp this weekend and
his house had been tossed, anything of value was history! I have Denzel Roberts in Texas making me a set of custom grips and forend for this Encore. My question is this: Will a
12” bull barrel cut the recoil enough to make any difference over the 12” standard taper barrel? Also, if I have him cut the forend for a standard taper, would I be able to put the
forend on anything but a standard taper barrel, i.e., a bull barrel or a heavy varmint taper? I’d like to buy a heavy taper or even bull barrel in the future if I don’t get one for the .454 Casull, so let me know if I can put the standard cut forend on a heavier taper barrel. So I guess the gist of it is, can I put the same Encore forend on a standard, heavy, and a bull barrel for the Encore? I need to know because I have to tell Denzel what I want. Please help me.
Thanks!
Selmer
PS This will be my first Encore and first Encore barrel, but not my first handcannon.

It's posted there also, and at Graybeard. I suppose I could post it at singleshooters.org as well.

Selmer,
I've dealt with Denzel Roberts before, and I would be surprised if he couldn't answer your questions. He certainly knows what barrels his forearms will fit.

Yeah, I've asked Denzel and he says that he fits the forends to each taper, which is understandable. It looks like he does beautiful work, are you pleased with what you have gotten from him? He emails back quite promptly, I should have my set by March. He says the best solution is get a standard taper forend, then if I want a bull barrel, order another forend from him. Makes sense from his standpoint, I know the bull forend will work for standard taper, but there will be an unsightly gap, I'm sure I'll break down and get a bull barrel forend to match my grip from him. Thanks for the response.
Sincerely,
Selmer

Tapered,Heavey, and bull barrells all require seperate forends. I suggest to people when they buy a encore, to purchase a heavy and tapered forend at the same time so you can get a good match with your butt stock or pistol grip. The three barrells that you mentioned are all different dia.
