I just picked out a New Marlin 1895 XLR to replace one that burglars stole and I need to mount the Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 x 40mm I bought to put on it. Cabelas did not have the correct rail in a silver finish so I passed and now I'm looking for a silver finish rail to keep the theme of the rifle all matching. The Nikon is silver finish too. Any body have any good ideas on rail and rings? My first thought was a Leupold QR rail which they say is Part number 54227 but I can't find anybody actually selling it online. Sure google nets some results but none of them are actually selling this part as far as I can tell it is just listed os the one that fits this gun on various charts. I can't say I'm crazy about Leupold's web site I find it pretty hard to navegate and really wish they had a direct purchase option instead of having to hunt for a local or online dealer.

I also wouldn't mind finding a rail that would extend a litte forward of the receiver to give me a little more room for eye relief.

Anybody got any ideas? I'd love to see pictures of anything you've done along these lines.

thanks.

Helix; If you find the rail you want, and it doesnt come in satin/flat silver, you can have the rail anodized or powder coated...........both finishes will work, although the anodizing will add strenght to an aluminum rail and be the most tolerant of abuse.

Midway seems to have the right Leupold Rail in silver. I may go that way unless I find a better option in the next couple of days. I wouldn't mind the XS scout rail but would need a different scope for that and I have not seen a silver finished one. woudl rather be able to buy it as is than have to send it out to be finished.

I would get the XS lever rail... even if you aren't going to mount any scout scopes or red dots really far forward it leaves you with the option in the future incase you ever wanna take the scope off and put a scout set up on for closer range situations like denser cover... just an idea
