NEF Handi Rifle

Hello. I just bought a NEF Handi Rifle in 30-06. It is as new, "22 inch barrel. I suspect someone bought it, took it out and fired it full house with no muffs and brought it back. I plan to put a scope on (no choice anyway - no sights!) and use it for fun target shooting. I will try different cast loads, and as well I'll try out my auxiliary cartridge in .30 M1 with my trusty 93 gr Lee WW loads. Has anybody had any experience with these little rifles. I realize that they aren't in the Ruger class, so I don't need to be told that. I see I need med/high mounts to clear the hammer. Thanks.

NEF Handi-Rifle

I checked out the Marlin site, but because I live in Kanada, and guns are now evil, I can't even think about sending my rifle down to the States to have another barrel fitted. Another great pastime being slowly strangled by the ignorant laws passed in haste to get votes. I see trainloads of chemicals crossing our borders in both directions, and nobody bats an eye. Geez, let one single shot rifle slip through, boy!!! Oh well, I can still get lots of pleasure out of shooting this rifle. So, all the anti-gunners can go fly a kite!

NEF Handi-Rifle

The Handi-Rifle definitely sounds like an interesting project. I am going to contact NEF/Marlin and see if they have any ideas for people like myself who live behind the "iron curtain" in Kanada. It burns me that I can't send an action down to the States and have other barrels fitted. Maybe there is an agent in Kanada who is willing to do this for NEF? Anybody have any ideas? I can't wait 'til it warms up and I can take mine out and try it. Thanks for the input so far.
