Just acquired this new 9.3x74R Ruger No.1-S.

Features a 22" barrel with a 1-in-10" twist rate. Excellent fit and finish, and the trigger breaks crisp.
Decided on the 286gr Nosler Partition bullet for hunting. The Nosler data shows 2400 fps maximum MV using IMR4350 (from a 24" barrel with a slower 1-in-14" twist rate) -
9.3x74 R Load Data
If this rifle is anything like my No.1 .45-70, then bullets can be driven considerably faster than what the reloading manuals show. I haven't determined yet whether the barrel has a short throat which, if it does, will reduce case capacity when loading heavier bullets.
Scope selection and load development to follow.
