I am looking at getting a new barrel for my Rem 700 in 270 winchester. Instead of getting another 270 barrel i am wondering if i can get a barrel in 264 win mag? and how much work would it be to do this and have the gun shoot safely?
Your Remington 700 in .270 Winchester is not set up to handle a magnum cartridge like a .264 Winchester Magnum. It can be done and would require altering the bolt face and rails to accommodate the larger cartridge. Costs could be pretty steep. It might make more economic sense to look for a used .264 Winchester Magnum or another used rifle in a magnum caliber for conversion to a .264. All the best...
