I have found a new England Westinghouse 30-06 at a gun store and was wondering the current value/price that one of these rifles go for. I have been around firearms for a long time and this is the first time I have come acrossed this. At first glance I was assuming that it was a mosin nagant, then after closer inspection I noticed it was an American made rifle. So I left the gun store without purchasing it, was curious about it so I researched it when I got home knew that the hexagon receiver was post ww2 but had no idea that the US created an American style mosin nagant. Anymore information on this would be great, the rifle was in good condition and it hard a dark wood stock, thanks ahead of time.

If it looks like a Mosin then that's what it is, and I seriously doubt it is a .30-06. 7.62x54R would be the correct chambering.

They were made by Remington and NEW prior to 1917, for the Czar. Lots of them still floating around.

Please don't double post.

Remington, Winchester and New England Westinghouse all made Mosin-Nagant rifles for Russia. After the communist revolution in 1918 many stayed in the US and was sold to US shooters.

My guess also it's a 7.62x54R. In the past, some of these rifles were improperly rechambered to 30-06, which can be a very dangerous conversion.

Decades back, converting Mosin Nagants rifles to .30-06 from the original 7.62X54 was popular for a while -- a short while, because it is NOT a safe conversion. If you want an MN to shoot, find one in 7.62x54. If your WEstinghouse MN is actually still 7.62x54, it is worth a collector's premium if in unaltered condition.

I have two of them

I picked them up some years back. They are marked New England Westinghouse and they are 7.62X54mm. If the rifle in the store was marked as a .30-06 it may have been misidentified. All the best...
