Welcome to the new format for our Shooter's Forum.

This board has become an excellent source of information, answers and exchange of knowledge.  Our old format only supported 2,000 posts before our host deleted the messages.  In this event all past posts and the information they contained would be lost.

This new format allows our own hosting, on our own server which means that we control the forum and its contents, thus preserving the excellent information presented here by the generous sharing of others.

We are instituting this new format for the benefit of all, and all who may benefit, even months from now by the information we share here.

The old forum can be accessed for information by going there directly from here Old Beartooth Bullets Shooter's Forum.  Please only use this to access old information that has appeared on our forum up to this point 29 December 2000.

We would ask that you post new messages here, so that the information shared can be better utilized, and preserved, also that no further posts will appear on the old forum format, thus preserving the posts that are there, and averting their deletion.

We appreciate all who post here, and the very friendly, knowledgable atmosphere we have all come to enjoy.

This new format will also allow us to better organize threads for future reference, has more advanced features and also allows us control over those annoying banner ads (you know... punch the monkey...) all those are now gone!)

Thanks to one and all for your participation here, you have made it what it is today, one of the finest, most informative outdoors related sites on the web!

God Bless you all!

Marshall Stanton

While I have not been a customer yet, I registered to enjoy the cast bullet info out there. I followed your old forum after I figured out new info may be posted in older topics. This is not a criticism, just a lack of understanding on my part. This new forum will certainly be easier to follow. I have one of the #3 Rugers with a long throat and know what it will do with jacketed, but am gleaning info for some cast. Thank you For making a forum available where the info of the product is there as well as usage tips. One stop shopping.

Well I wasn't expecting a change this big Marshall. Do you ever sleep? One question though, how can I access the old forum? I don't see a link. Fire lapping this weekend???

Nice work, Marshall. This is a better format for those of us on expensive rural lines. We can see which threads have recent posts and we can download long threads, disconnect, and read them offline. It's better than clicking from post to post.

I'm not an expert on internet sercurity, but I understand that it's not a good idea to post your email address in forums like this one. Spamers love it. A member of my favourite Canadian forum sent a change of his email address to the forum and everyone else in his address book in one shot. One of the addressees was a major online retailer. Someone pointed out that he had given the retailer a free list of potential customers, and the change of address should have been sent by bcc (blind carbon copy). Take care!

Add a bit of color, please! Grey on grey is dismal, particularly when all I can see out the window is an overcast sky and 2 feet of snow!

Happy New Year!
Jack

Sorry about that little buggy... I'm sure it's not the last but it's fixed! Thank for the head's up Doug!

God Bless and I'll see what I can do about a different color to add some life to this. Anything else that needs to change as long as I'm at it?

Marshall, I tried the link and it required an ID #.

I'm not the fastest guy with a computer so maybe I missed something. How is the old archived forum accessed?

Ouch!  There are enough trials in life without us talking about it!

Thanks for the catch!   Will be fixed soon... I'll have a talk with our webmaster.  My son will not like me! (lol)

God Bless,

Marshall

I posted this here, just for those who have come on our board here lately, and might not know the history of our Shooter's Forum, this thread tells a little about that.

As most of you know by now, we changed our forum format back the first of the year in order to preserve the richness of the information that was being posted here.   Our host for the old forum had a maximum ceiling for the number of posts on a forum before they would arbitarily delete the oldest threads from the archives... so, in order to avert losing the information that had been shared there, we posted this new, self hosted, format.

As the old saying about the best made plans of mice and men.... well our old forum host has added a monkey wrench into the plan, and has made a policy that those posts not active for eight weeks, are deleted.

Unbeknown to me, we have been losing our old forum, a bit at a time.... currently there is only one page left of the information that was once posted!  There is nothing we can do about it here.  So, if there is anything there of interest to you, my advice is to either copy it or print it, because very shortly it will be an anachronism.

Sorry guys,  we tried.  Just thought you should know that the loss of information there is beyond our control.

Thanks to all for your generous sharing, and the bright spot of the whole thing is that this new forum we have total control over, its content, setup, format and management.   What is shared here now, we can archive or do what we want with, without the interference of outside influences.

Top of the day to all!

God Bless,

Marshall
