I saw over on another forum that Winchester is offering a Shot Show special for new Model 71's (made by Japanese company?).

Anyone seen one on a distributor's website?

Haven't seen one on any site other then Winchester's, but they are supposed to have the tang safty, but no rebounding hammer, they are made my Miroku, the same company who makes all of the Japenese Winchester's, and Browning's, I have a Browning 1886, and a 71 both made by Miroku, they are excelent guns.

I just wanted to mention Sportsman's Warehouse has Hornady 200 Gr. FPs in stock, I just went there to pick up a gun safe and they had them on the shelf, werent there for the last two months, these are new looking boxes so I am guessing Hornady has made there yearly run on 348s.

welcome to the forum, and the 71/348 community.

I didn't think it had the rebounding hammer. That's disappointing.
I read some where that it didn't have the rebounding hammer, that is a dissapointment...dang it.

Well Cool, good for you.
Just wondering how much was it?
When you get it take more pictures for us to look at, let us know how it shoots, and what kind of rear sight is that?
Thanks for sharing

Well like I said good for you, it is a fine looking ORIGINAL 71!

The 71's make good hunting rifles for large game of all sorts, but they also make good grouse and small game guns. I've been tinkering with round ball loads some. .350" round ball, coated with Lee liquid alox, over about 3-4 grains of Red Dot. It makes about as much noise as a 22 LR high speed load, and kills grouse well without tearing them up too bad. Still tinkering to find the best accuracy, but so far good enough to shoot grouse within 20 yards.

Malamute, (which I see in the background behind your gun, is that you?:D)

So you mean an original, not one of the new ones?
Which ever good for you, they are great guns!!!
