"The Maneaters of Tsavo" by Colonel Patterson(?) Don't quite remember the author's name. It's about africa. One of my favorite books.

There was also a movie called "The Ghost and the Darkness" based off of that book. Awesome movie. Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas were in it.

The book is an "easy" read, very descriptive and it's real easy to imagine the world around you as if you were there. And it's not one of those "looong" books that never end. If you're bored you could easily read it in a day or two. And they did a great job with the movie.

It is a hunting book as well as a shooting book, so it qualifies quite nicely on the board. Good read, BTW.

F.Y.I. for old movie buffs, Ghost in the Darkness was a remake. Yep!
It was first done in the '50's staring Robert Stack, a real hunter/shooter.
The movie was one of the first of several attempts to enthrall the audiences with 3-D. Great show for a kid in the 50's.
Look up "Bwana Devil".

The Lunatic Express

The Lunatic Express: An Entertainment in Imperialism includes much of the history and politics involved in the building of the Uganda Railway, and includes a detailed description of Col. Patterson's involvement with the lions of Tsavo.

Good read for those interested in the history of Africa, but a whole lot more than you may want to know if you're just interested in hunting man-eating lions.
