Once more into the dark...

The Verdict is in...

As many of you know, my wife, Kathy, had Stage 2 ovarian cancer tens years ago, when she was 37. She was, quite literally, gutted. We, then, almost lost her to a massive internal infection. She underwent 8 months of intense chemo.

Last year at this time, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. Her hair, after all the chemo, is just now about 1.5 inches long.

We've just gotten the results of her latest PET scan. Compared to one 3 months ago, there's a marked difference. Problematic areas show as dark black spots and she now has 11 of them on her liver, her left kidney, left lung and 3 on her spine. She saw her GP, yesterday, and all he would say is that she would have to discuss the results with her oncologist. As an O.R. RN with 20 years in the OR, she has enough knowledge to know there's a real problem. If she is correct, there will be little in the way of treatment options.

Kathy has the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 gene mutations which are high indicators of susceptibility to ovarian and breast cancers, both of which very often lead to reappearance in other forms, throughout the body. For us, it has never been "if" she gets cancer again, but, rather, when.

I'd appreciate every prayer your willing to offer up.
