Amen !!

I am easily attached to firearms. The accurate ones, the easy to work on ones, the ones that I have taken nice sized game with, the ones that have been carried during a good(memorable) expierance, all are hard to let go of.

Oh,the stories I could tell. Even a certain Ithaca 37 that I used back in the daze that I desperately tried to adopt and bring home, got left behind. The Win Mod 70XTR that I killed my biggest buck ever with was sold. My Mossberg 500 that I killed the most(by a long shot)crows in one trip with was traded for a "newer and better" 11-87.

I sill have some "keepers"........but.......will I end up keeping 'em ?? Well yes....probably. -----pruhdlr

Slim, I wish you the best. As time goes on we might fail a bit, but the good Lord gives us what we need. Enjoy the hobby as you go. You have no obligations to meet. I hope you get your group before you are through. I feel qualified to speak in these terms because as a 34 year old Hall of fame wrestler in the state of New York, I've been ordered to a heart specialist to clear up a murmur I've had my whole life. I have a young (28 yrs) wife and 2 children under 3. I'm tough but this makes me think. Have a good time.

Like CVC, I can get close to cloverleafs with the 5-shot groups, but elusive one or two shots seem bound to leave the cluster a bit. Old age, weakening eyes and shaky hands account for this. Just can't seem to hold the sight picture as steady as in years past.

Good luck, Slim - hope you get that group and find a reason to hang onto the old rifle!

Slim I do not know a thing about you . But I am 61 years old and was told they got most of the Cancer when they operated two years ago. Then the arthrtis keeps getting worse ,and unable to handle the ol' 35 Marlin , I decided to sell it last fall.
Well I do not miss it since it did indeed go to a good home , which was better than winein' about not going out anymore , but guess what . The cancer is gone and too, I can shoulder and shot a lever again. Maybe not as fast , but Shot two deer last fall with one shot kills .

So I say to you as I do with an ol' friend who is going on 86 - Applying for a doe tag this year ? You see he was not supposed to be with us for the last six years.
So thank the Lord for the things you have today to enjoy, and leave the other things for him- to worry about it .
It might not be a hunt this year as it was years before but a question on How you might still injoy it . For me the dogin' days are gone as going miles in the bush . Last fall I was brought out on a blind . I sat there until I was picked up again . I shot the deer and they came and cleaned it .
You see I still went hunting , it was just a matter of how!!
God Bless

WAY TO GO SLIM 60!!!!!!!!!! :D Man go for it, never roll over no matter how old or tired or feeble, give it on more shot and I hope you do get that ragged hole. But even if you don't you tried and that shows what you are made of, great heart, DO IT!!!!!!!!!:D:D We might be old and others might get there first over those ridges and to the other side of the canyon but I will get there. They might out shoot me for a while but I will keep trying until I do it better. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD SHOOTING.

That's what I'm doing. I'm young at 62, but I've been having a go around with cancer too for the past couple of years. In, and out of chemo, this week radiation, and more of that, and maybe more chemo next week. I was out shooting today, and it went pretty well. I'm weaker now, and chemo blurs what vision I have some, and I shake, but I still had fun. I tried a 4x pistol scope on my .44 a couple of weeks ago, and never saw my shaking so clearly! :D Today, it wore a red dot, and I'll be darned if I didn't shoot some acceptable groups with it, even at 50 yards. Great groups no, but acceptable, and fun. I shot my little .357 carbine, and my 45-70 too. I was chilled, and tired when I came home, but very pleased the lord had given me this day. A couple of years ago, I wasn't supposed to make it more than a year, and a half with the best treatment, just months without it. I am still beating the odds, and still enjoying my shooting, casting, and loading. If some young guy shows me up badly at the range, I am thankful I gave him a good day........ never know, he may have fewer than I. Do what you can, as long as you can, and enjoy it as much as you can. Watch the deer you hunt, and see how much they care about yesterday, or tomorrow...... and see how determined they can be to survive, and keep going.

I hope I'm still able to shoot at 62. But the way my body feels at 28, I have tremendous respect for you guys !

Slim, I'll come down and shoot with ya sometime, and I'll buy ya a beer !
