You may not be willing to ditch the Leupold mounting system, but the typical Weaver-style base will let you see the sights (with the scope and rings removed, of course).
Many people are not aware that a Weaver mount will usually return to zero, if some care is taken to remount in a consistent manner.
I use the Weaver mount on my Marlin 39A for this reason, and have also used a Weaver base for a Marlin 336 on two Romanian M1969 .22's. Of course I had to drill and tap the Romanian guns, not too big of a chore. Basically, on any .22LR, I set them up to use the iron sights as well.
If you want to keep the current mount, sorry, can't help there.
