Thanks for replying to this post. I got the e-mail and w/o it I wouldn't have known my post was all screwed up.
I attempted to say the same thing, that the Weaver base will allow a rear aperture setup but that I wasn't sure about the Leupold. I think the ability to remove and reattach a scope is overstated. One doesn't remove it unless the optic is broken or weather becomes so bad that it is a hinderance. Either way it's doubtful you won't have some sort of device to remove a Weaver-mounted scope, nor is it likely you'll be returning the optic to rifle any time soon.
