Hey guys, my father knows a guy who is offering to sell him his Winchester Model 94 Ranger 30-30 which he claims has been shot less than 20 times. Neither my father nor I have seen the rifle yet, but he says it is in like new condition. I do not know much about lever action rifles, but he offered to sell it for $350, which i thought was the deal of the century. After looking around on gunbroker and some other websites, that is what most people are selling them for... so I am wondering, is there something wrong with these rifles? Are they not made as well or did they have a recall or something? My father is not looking to spend a ton, but he would rather spend one or two hundred more if it will get him a much better made 30-30. Thanks for any advice

The Ranger's are made of the same materials & design as all other Model 94's, but since they were marketed as an economy model (as referred to above), the wood is a walnut-stained non-walnut hardwood, and the metal didn't receive the same level of polishing/finishing prior to the final finish.
$350, TODAY, for one in virtually new condition, is an excellent buy, and Ranger's are just as accurate & dependable as any other Winchester 94.
