To make a .44 Pee To Wee load....size and prime some old .44 Mag hulls...take a fired .22 rimfire hull as a dipper and dump in Unique...push in a .45 cal wool 'Wonder Wad" ....thumb seat (hard) a .440 Speer round ball! At night I patrol the place with these P2Wee loads! they are great on varmints and about as loud as a .22 rimfier short! But they are nasty! When you fire them they go"pee-to-wee!" Oh well................!

James,

Are you seating that ball all the way into the case or just to the widest point of the projectile? I've been thinking a pest load for my 44 might be handy?

Mt...I do it two ways, but the ball is only half way in the hull. If I am going to carry the load around much, I seat the ball just past the radius and give it a crimp. IfI am just making a few to pop,I thumb seat the ball hard. The secret of the load is the wool Wonder Wad. I use the .45" in my Ruger Old Army. When you push it into the mouth of the shell tight. Then when the ball goes in it fit the curve and seals good. The dry lube in the wad works great. I even made some up with 20 grs of Pyro "P" and they were hot and still accurate. You have to use some "Kentucky" windage as they shoot low in most guns. It does not take long to figure how much front sight to see. You can use 4 grs of Unique @ 600'/"+- or 3 grs of Bullseye @ 550 '/"+-.The wad stays in one place under the ball. Be careful though, this are small but deadly loads. I buy a bow of 100 Speer .440" balls for this and also use the for slugging chamber throats, etc, In the .45 Long Colt, we use Speer .454" balls with the same powder charge. Just about any shotgun powder works also. Anyway, they are fun on a rainy day off my deck! When you shoot one you will see why I call the a P2Wee load.

Sounds like fun!   I'll have to rummage through my junk box and see if I don't have a .440 RB mold floating around somewhere... bet I do!

I also bet that this load would captivate the young, beginning revolver shooter!

Sounds a lot like a load I used to make up for a .32-20 Colt SAA I had years ago... used a 00 buckshot and 1.5g of Bullseye.   That load was death on desert jack-rabbits out to 50 yards!   This .44 load would be just that much more venemous!

Thanks to Mr. Gates!

God Bless,

Marshall

Clark...I've found the wool/lube Wonder Wads for the Ruger pistol work great also.
