I'm very akin to your thinking, and perhaps as these forums are used, we'll indeed split them up even more for clarity as you have suggested.  For the time being, we just want to see how much interest there is in a set of hunting forums, and if they're well used, you'll see them expanded.

Grew up in E. Oregon?  I was raised in the K. Falls area, hunted both the Cascades, and E. Oregon.  My love is for the high desert.... this time of year the smell of sagebrush and junipers calls!

Hunted quite a bit around Bly, Lakeview, Crane, took lots of nice mulies from the Silver Lake area.  It was great country to hunt, probably still is, although much of my old stomping ground is under housing developments now.

Thanks for the input! And we'll play it by ear, and see how well frequented these new forum categories become!

Likewise, I enjoyed living in SE Oregon, but too many people moving in, and the I-5 corridor (the liberal bunch) are dictating policy for the balance of the state.  Too many self serving politicians involved for my tastes.

I have friends and family still living in the area, and they keep me abreast of current local events.  Occasionally go down there for a rock-chuck hunt myself, and some first class jackrabbit hunting.

I too will stay where I am.  I miss the wide open spaces of E. Oregon at times, but I also love N. Idaho.  It's rugged country if you're off the beaten track, and hard as the dickens to hunt because it's so very thick (much like the Oregon coastal units), and steep, but most big game tag buyers are merely "heater hunters", not getting out of their 4WD's or off their four wheel ATV's.  They really don't do anything except bunch the game up well into roadless or road closure areas so that real hunters who have a hunting ethic can enjoy a quality hunt.
