hello everyone i am a newby to this forum. i had a couple of questions. i have a model 70 i believe it is pre 64. the serial number is G1960xxx. does this mean that is a 1960 . i think that would be to easy. thanks for any help. ken

A winchester with a "G" at the beginning of the serial number is positively not a pre '64. Sorry. Serial numbers for pre '64s end somewhere around 590,000. Post '64 manufacture began at 700,000.
