Maybe it's your pic, or my rheumy eyes, but is there what I perceive to be a male dovetail contour to it, when viewed from one end ?
If so, it looks like one of those adaptors that slip into a barrel dovetail to allow the attachment of a sight ramp or sight body to it via a screw into the threaded hole.
Tightening the screw usually locks the assembly together in the barrel dovetail.
If it isn't that, then maybe it's a Finnegan Pin holder.
