I need a more portable press for mobile use, and was looking at the RCBS Partner press.

It looks quite solid, and nicely finished, and the size is right. Is it suitable for '06 length rounds ? I'd like to be able to bolt it on a section of 2 X 12, and C clamp it to bench for range use.

Currently I use a RCBS Jr that I've had for ??? about 40 years, and a Lee Reloader mini press. The Jr is a workhorse, the Lee is very handy for decapping and is the best priming tool I've ever put on a bench with the Ram Prime setup, but I don't think it would hold up too well on a regular diet of full length 7mm Mag and cartridges of similar length.

Any users out there.

Well I haven't loaded many of my 30-06 rounds on the two Lee Reloaders I got for de- and repriming but I did a few and they worked fine. Should do as well on 7 mags.

After I got a dial indicator with magnetic base I checked springing on both of the Reloaders and my Rock Chucker while FL sizing the -06 stuff. Same dies, same box of empties, same Imperial Die Wax lube, set the shoulders back to the same length. The RC sprung almost three thou due to sizing pressure but neither of the Lees moved enough to read...THAT impressed me!!

The Partner is also an alum alloy press but it should also do very well.

Another option is the Huntington Compac hand press. Unlike many other hand presses, it can be bolted to a small wooden base so it will stand up on its own, or the base could be clamped to a bench. It comes with a drawing of a plate for mounting it to a bench.

As you can see pictured are both the RCBS and the Lee versions. To date I couldn't tell you how many rounds have been loaded by the pair.

I mounted them on a piece of 4" wide flat bar. This was to allow me to mount the powder measure along side either of them. They make a VERY versatile set up and I have loaded everything from .223's up through 300 RUM's on them both. Yes they are a bit touchy with the longer cases but it can be done. You mentioned 7mm Rem Mag's, I have loaded well over 2K of them with the combo.

The key is using good lube and if you go with Imperial Sizing Wax you will not have any issues. This said I have managed to break one handle off the RCBS while sizing of all things a 25-06 case from a mis-chambered rifle my friend had. The cases were so bulged that they would slide in pretty easy, but then trying to get them back out was something of a different story.

Yes that rifle is long gone.

Pick one they are both decent for the use and I have found that very accurate ammo can be loaded with either.
