I have read much about 444 in win 94... all sounds REAL positive and already shot some 300 lfn, 300 cast-perf lbt as well 310-heith style all GC and hard cast...BUT using Hornady's "short" leverlution empties is fine BUT... too short and loses too much powder cap.... after much measuring and visual...have settled on trimming normal RP and Horn brass to 2.140"+- about 70 thousands off....finally"the question" anyone else had this ISSUE and resolved it this way...I have read all I can find about the 444 my NEF shoots amazing with normal components...NOW I just need to get same to happen with the WIn 94 and all will be hunky dory ANY help or suggestions is OK...

I''m going thru the same thing here. I'm just going to use the Hornady brass for heavy bullet loads. Using a faster buring powder negates the powder capacity issues. Start with IMR 4198. You'll find the recoil gets to you before the bullets get to flying too fast. Really no need to push the limits of power with this cartridge.

At the risk of running afoul of the mods for posting on a 13 year old thread, did you get it sorted out?

Also, you may run into cycling and pressure issues in the 94 running longer brass with the FTX bullet seated to the cannelure. Proceed with caution and knowing first if the chamber will tolerate it safely.

When my 1886 was still a 45-70, testing with a dummy round determined I did not need to trim standard length 45-70 brass at all when using the FTX. Chamber had plenty of throat to it and cycling was a complete non-issue.

As long as the OP is back and joining the discussion, it's all good!

Welcome back ccargo. Any updates on the 444?
