I have a browning a-bolt in a 7mm rem mag and was thinking of rebarreling it and changing it to a 7mm or 300 rem ultra mag for longer range and flatter shooting. Wondering what some thoughts were. Thanks

Is the Browning action long enough to accomodate the longer rounds?

You already have a rifle that's good to 1000 yds. Unless you just love to burn powder and like the resulting recoil and blast, what's the point?

I'd sure run some calcs through a ballistic calculator before undertaking the project (if you haven't done so already) to see if bullet drop & drift is 'worth it' at the ranges you are thinking.

Also, worth a read through this thread to make sure you, or your gunsmith, know about the issues with rebarreling a Browning.

And, welcome.

I have a 7RUM, and I wouldn't go to the 7RUM if I had a 7RM already, although I like the 7RUM.

Shawn is right, its pretty difficult to safely rebarrel a modern Browning.
