A neoprene belt, 40 by 8 inches and 1 mm thick can be folded over several times in 6 inch increments to obtain a 6 by 8 by 1.5 inch thick pad. It is very light and flexible and makes the best recoil pad I have ever used.

The best ones are sold as a cheap back support and/or weight loss gimmick, and they have Velcro on the portions of the belt that overlap when you wrap it around your waist. Try a sporting goods store and don't pay over $10.

It is far better than the PAST products, and can be slipped under your shirt before you do target work.

That's a great idea, wish I had thought of that before my first trip to the range with the .458. I think that I have some similar material around the garage.

Thanks again!

Let me know what you think. I've now used mine on 458 Win, 416 Rem, 338 RUM and 300 RUM and I'm hooked. Wish I knew the physics of why neoprene works so well...
