Can someone point me in the right direction please.

Around the start of winter here in Australia I am planing camping and going shooting and taking the old 303-270 out.
I got some reloads done for it years ago and also put a scope on it and it shot groups within 2inchs so that was good enough for me.I am living in a different town now so would be a bit hard for me to track down the guy who reloaded it before and distance wise would be a bit difficult to get the bullets back here.

I have found a guy who is a avid shooter he said he could reload them if he could get a die and new what what be a good reload for it.

So I am after someone who has reloaded for this caliber before.And willing to share load information.

I shall be shooting kangaroos,dingo,pig and goat,in mostly hill country.Oh would be good to snip a rabbit of at a long distance.

What size projectiles powder etc?

That is a wildcat nearly unknown in the US but PO Ackley has a few loads in Handbook #1. Only two of the powders are still available by name-- 4895 and 4064 for 130 grain bullets starting at about 37 grains for either. You should work up carefully and try to find components locally because y'all have a totally different set of powders down there.

I have Nick Harvey’s reloading manual from 1980 with the 270-303 listed and also Reloading Simplified 1973 edition with that calibre listed as well but some powders listed in both have to be converted to what is commonly available now which you can do with powder equivalents burn rate charts such as this one http://t2ammo.com/data/_uploaded/file/Techniek/Powder Burn Rate Chart.pdf

Hi Gastric.
Iv got a 27-03 it's one of my favourite guns .
ADI powders have suggested start loads but they haven't done much work with it.
They have a good call service if you want to kno about other options than what is in there manual.
I use 130 grn because it makes it legal for samba deer but would go a bit lighter if it wasn't for that.
Simplex in Sydney makes dies for it , they are great to deal with.
Dies come up on used guns a bit , there was a set a few weeks ago they might be still there.
It is a rare chambering but a goodie for an all rounder.
I haven't had mine out much due to a head space problem but now that I have that sorted I'm waiting for a break to put a night scope on it and do some serious varmint culling.
It's going to be my anti education gun.(for spotlight educated critters)

ADI still have the 303-270 listed, that’s good, I didn’t think they would so I didn’t check. The info is sparse, no minimum loads and no pressures either.

I checked some of the loads and what they call maximum would seem to be not what you would call maximum against the old maximum loads when you do some burn rate conversions, but still, it pays to play it safe and follow their guideline of reducing their current maximums by 2 grains and work up from there. You really need a chronograph so you know what speeds you are getting so you know where you are vs. the velocities they have listed.
