anyone else have issues with this stuff lately. I bought some 243 to sight in and got a few that wouldn't fire and the ones that did every third one was a flyer.
Thought maybe it was me so i tried out the 270 and the new rounds did the same thing in that.
So today i went and bought some federal powershok 243 and they group in a 1" group or less even as windy as it was today.

thanks

I have had mixed results with Rem Core Lock ammo.

7mm-08 140 gr: Would not group well in my Tika rifle, but put it thru my Savage Striker and 1.5" groups @ 75 yds.

30-06 150 gr: Groups ok in my Rem 7600 1.5 @ 100, even worse in Win 70.

30-06 180 gr: 1.5 in Rem 7600 @ 100, .75 @100 Win 70

Just like any factory ammo, some guns like a core lock and some dont.

I dont think you will find a core lock that will print 1 hole groups, but hunting accuracy is fine, IMO.

Problem was that the flyer was going left by 4". To me thats not ok especialy for hunting. First 2 shots were close together, about 1 inch. Now with the federal i can cover 3 shots with my thumb. That makes me happy:D:D
I have some boxes from about a year ago and they seem to work fine for me (.260 Remington, 140gr Core-Lokt).
are they the regular core lokt or the express?
They are exactly these : Remington Express Ammunition 260 Remington 140 Grain Core-Lokt Pointed Soft Point Box of 20
hhhmmm, same thing except mine were the 243s
What is the difference in the Express and the regular corelock? I have shot them for years and never had any issues with them. I have not bought any lately though.

the wouldn t fire part would bother me more..i bought couple of boxes of rem 06
165 grn express .. suppose to have pointed tip.. one box,, had a flat nosed bullets like a 30 30 bullet.. i checked the boxes an they were suppose to be the same..
something is wrong in quality management when that happens..... unless theres something im not aware of about remington ammo.
never any no fires though..slim
Did both calibers experience misfires?

I don't believe there is...I think "express" is just used at times to differentiate between the regular corelokt, and corelokt ultra bonded.
Did both calibers experience misfires?
No, just the 243
But in finished product comparison the federals won hands down. The casing on the federal was clean and shiny while the remington was grungy looking. The tips of the federal was clean and came to a nice finished point while the remington was uneven around the edges of the tip and the copper and not all of the tips where pointed. some were slanted and some flat. The core lokts were not of good quality control.
I have shot a lot of Powershoks in three of my rifles, for the money you really cant beat them in a factory round. Premiums shoot great also but as the name suggests the prices definately goes up.

I never had great luck with any remington ammo either, no failures but accuracy was not good at all in 2 guns.
Strange stuff. I shoot a lot of factory core locs and never had a failure to fire or seen less than regular looking brass and bullets. I would question the dealer.
i would lean towards putting the misfire blame on the gun instead of the cartridge. I am quite sure Remington uses standard primers and poiwders in the Express line. It may also be possible that the cartridge may be a bit undersized ot the chamber slightly oversized.
