I was suprised to see that my Remington 700 BDL's (30-06) magazine is long enough to comfortably hold a 375 H&H mag cartridge.

Does Remington chamber all their mag rounds in this standard length 700 action? If so, that opens up some interesting rechambering options...e.g. 35 Whelen to 358 STA.

Yeah, that's only an extra quarter of an inch. A lot of the manufacturers have two primary action lengths (not counting rimfire), one for the long cartridges and one for the short. The dividing line falls between the .308 and the .30-06 somewhere.

The Ultra Mags may be a little longer but im not sure. You can pretty much build anything you can dream of off of a Remington 700 action (long or short).
