I was considering a carry handle for my Bushmaster AR 15 after watching this video any thoughts?

Seals, Delta Force and other SOF dropped the M4 like a steaming hot potato when HK came out with the 416.

A lot of the parts inside and out sure look like the M4.

+1 about the ammo.
I would rather have a round that does it all, than one that only is good at one thing.
I would like to have a rifle in one of the 6.5s but the 7.62x51 does the same.
Wrong, the HK416 was never adopted by SOCOM (can't speak for CAG). Tested in small numbers yes but never adopted. AWG used them but they are not part of SOCOM and big Army had them turn them all in later. I tested one along side a standard M4A1 (my issued gun), FN Mk16 and a HK416. All ran the same and the M4 was the lightest. This was in Balad Iraq in Dec 05' when I was in 5th SFGA.

Just finished two years as a SOF small arms repair down range in Afghanistan/Kuwait/Iraq Aug 14-Sep 16. We weren't taught maitanence on the HK416 nor did we have parts. Had parts for the M4, Mk11, Mk12, Mk18 (all gas impinged), Mk17 SCAR. Worked on SEALs, Rangers, SF, MARSOC and USAFSOC guns, never saw a single 416. Standard rifle is still the M4A1.

The detachable handle is good for rifle shooting. Back in 05' I combat equipment jump with my issued M4A1, next day took the rails, ACOG, BUIS off reinstall round handguards, DETACHABLE CARRYING HANDLE and drove down to Benning for the All Army Matches. I'm the only one shooting a M4 (out of 152 shooters) and finished in the middle. Only irons sights allowed then shooting out to 500yds.

If your looking at using your AR for HD you might want to consider a Red Dot optic with a light mount on the handrail. Fast shooting and illumiates the target for positive ID. Well I don't personally like single point slings as they allow the rifle to hang in the front bouncing off my privates if running hands free (it'll work its way around to the front even when swept) I just prefer a two point sling on a side mount/side sling swivel. Gun is always pointed in a safe direction. Sling also allows you to keep positive control and hands free use if you need to secure doors, use phones etc.

I figgered that would happen. Makes me wonder why it's so difficult to find the old, 1¼-inch wide, flat, web sling that hooks-up under the sight and at the end of the stock. I've seen these new ones with the loops and plastic buckles; I can't figger-out how they work. Gimme the old ones from the 1970s, please...

The HK MR556 is not the same as the 416. It actually uses some AR15 parts where the HK416 does not. The HK416 uses quite a few more proprietary parts than the MR556. The MR556 is still very different from an AR15/M4.

And yes, Combat Diver is correct, however I do think that the piston system rifles are better if they are executed properly. Such as the FNH SCAR, CZ Bren, LWRC M6, HK 416, Galil ACE, etc... the Direct gas impingement system and the M4/M16 rifles are very very reliable and the difference between them and the piston guns in the real world are very small if you do it all right. The DI system is also far cheaper.

I'm still sticking with my LWRC piston system rifles but there is nothing broke on the standard gas system of the AR15. The lWRC shares some parts with the AR15 but is largely proprietary as well.

The LWRC "Individual Carbine" series was actually designed a few years back in a contest that was held to replace the M4/M16. And even though some contenders may have faired a little better than the M4/M16. It was not a huge difference and was definatley not worthh the significant increase in cost for the new rifle system designs.

If you want a Piston rifle, buy a piston rifle, but don't think that there is anything wrong with the DI rifle.

One of my favorite rifles is piston opereated the FN FAL. nvshooter, what you discribed is called a two point sling, just from the top. Thats what I prefer just off on the left side.
