The best suggestion I could make to you is to go over to www.rimfirecentral.com and inquire over there. Several of the guys do it and actually have a nice rep doing it. Me? I did my own. Chucked a #2 wooden pencil (new) in my itty bitty drill press, used some jewelers rouge and went to it. Quite simply really, but these guys have all the proper equipment to cut the jeweling as well as index the bolt.

My opinion on the matter is that it is purely cosmetic and serves no real purpose other than looks. If you like the look then go for it, after all it's your rifle. As Sinbad stated rimfire central is the place. Go over there and look up "Que" or "Nemo Hunter". Either one of those guys can fix you up. While you're at it you might as well have them adjust the head space on the rim recess, pin the firing pin down and adjust the extractor. That will improve function and can help accuracy too. I had Que do one for me without the jeweling and he did very nice work for a more than reasonable price and he was a good guy to deal with.

Excellent advise. I had my bolt milled to square it and bring the headspace to .042. It makes a huge difference. I also cycled about 25 rounds of cheap uncoated .22 ammo through the action and caught the rounds on a towel. Using the uncoated rounds allowed me to see the bright scrape spots on the bullets. Then I went through the action to find the burrs and clean them up.
