Anyone have a 303 British in the No.1? How does it shoot? What loads do you use in it?

I'm very curious too! I was going to get one, but then money was tight, so I didn't.

Bought one recently. Got on paper with 180gr factoy loads. After looking at reloading data, opted to try 42.5gr h4350 with speer 180 rn. data shows between 2200-2300fps, just a bit better than 30-30 I had been hunting with. Last 2 3shot groups shot close to 1" at 80yds from rest. Good enough for my hunting in the thick stuff. I'll play with it more after deer season.

first kill with #1 in british went fairly well. 135# 6pt. at 40yds was walking into thick stuff and so rushed the shot a bit. just behind last rib.(read gut shot) just before dark. went down after 20yds. got up at my approch and ran. tracked it next AM. circled 150yds back to where he first came from. autopsy showed 1 1/2" exit hole so the speer 180gr. expanded well for not hitting any bone even at low velocity. no meat loss. unsuccessful at digging the slug from the ground. may try again in the spring when the ground thaws. I'll try to up the velocity as long as the accuracy stays over the summer.

A #1 in the Swede is high on my list of "next". Also been cntemplating the Marlin 336 in 35 rem. or .338. Both interesting calibers to me. Supposedly you can't duplicate the .338 factory load yet.
