So far, so good! Took my new-to-me 1999 No. 1B .243 Winchester out to the range today to see what it would do at 100 yards with Federal factory 100 grain soft points. It has a Leupold VX IIc 3x9 scope on it. Nothwithstanding the 98 degree temps, 80 percent humidity and biting flies I put the last 3 rounds in a 1.5 inch group. Now, if I could just move the scope back just a little more...I've already ordered one of the Ruger BO4 offset rings for the rearmost mount which will get me another .75 inches and, if need be, will get a second one to back it up a bit further still. The trigger was not too bad either with no discernible creep but it's definitely on the heavy side - I'd guess about 5 to 6 pounds. All things considered it was a good introduction to Ruger No. 1 shooting!
