Like Jim says, you probably don't want to hear this, but...
I have serious doubts that Ruger uses a different frame for the DAO and the conventional DA revolvers. This being said, probably by changing hammer & trigger it will work. The problem here is that these parts are restricted to factory fitting only, they won't sell them to anyone. That brings up the second problem. If you send it to the factory they will repair it as it was originally issued. They call anything else "custom work" which they refuse to do.
The bottom line in this case is sell the DAO and buy what you want, this is one place where there is no other solution. This is the voice of experience, I've been around with them on this very issue.

After reading below post guess I should have included the caveat of "Unless that policy has changed since Bill Ruger retired".
