Recently William Iorg mentioned sight change, I thank him for his comment which resulted in the following. I request assistance or advice regarding the front sight.
I refer to the Numrich on line parts list.I have nil background on a sight change on S&W handguns. Technical competence -yes.
My 29 is fitted with what appears to be a 90#899000000 322770 Front Sight Blade,Red Insert MC. This sight blade combination with rear sight wound fully down shoots around 4" high out to 50yds and on at 100yds with gascheck loads on steel.
I now wish to have point of aim sighting at around 50 yds as I now have other employment for the 29.
The present pin secured blade insert measures 0.220''above the ramp.
I note other items are described as front sight CH a#321920 and 321950 are called up. Consequently, I am unable to get a selection of blades that will put my rear sight at around mid adjustment range.
Also I notice various Partridge sights are called up. What to S&W term as a partridge sight.

Are there other after market retailers who can supply sight blades by mail order?

If you don't mind spending around a hundred fifteen bucks, Magnaport has a service that they EDM a pocket in place of the front sight blade and cross drill it for a pin that fits various C-more front sight inserts. They have an option for pinned sights also. For around 45 bucks that they can fit various heights and shapes of front sights to serve whatever purpose you want. This is likely the option you want. You are lucky, my 29-2, 8 3/8 barrel front sight is intregal to the barrel. www.magnaport.com/misc.html
