I do my best to avoid gimmicky looking stuff like the catalogs are full of, but I did finally succumb to purchasing a "Sagen Saw" from Cabelas. It's great. It's designed for splitting the pelvis w/o bursting the bladder. I used mine on a moose recently, and I really like it. I have previously used my Browning folding saw, and a hatchet, and this thing beats heck out of both of them.

Cyclops Look Of the Year Award

Sounds good. I'll look for it. I just bought a Wyoming, though.

On the topic of "new" and indespensible equipment, I used the Petzl Tikka "headlight" this weekend in the woods (a BTB recommendation) in the dark and rain and it really, really made a difference. You forget that it's stuck to your forehead and it's pretty much points to the spot you're looking. Very helpful. Later, I just kept it on and read in the tent. Plucking ducks and gutting deer in the dark will never be the same.

Yea Charlie - Those headlight deals are great. I have one, and it beats heck out of holding on to a flashlight w/ your mouth when you need both hands.
