Guys, I noticed today upon reading up on the Savage ML's that some have a 1:24 twist rather than the typical 1:28 or 1:32 (for Lyman "Hunter" rifles).

This is a faster twist than any other ML Ive read about.
Anyone have an opinion if this works better than the other brands ? (obviously Savage thought so, or maybe they were just trying to do something different ??)

My guess is there forcing you into premium bullet usage with that twist rate. Patched round balls usually takes very slow twist rate like 1-48" or slower. The faster 1-28" twist rate doesn't work well with patched round balls but will work with Hornady's round ball sabots (very accurate for my muzzle loaders).

White Rifles run a 1-24 twist in their .50 and .54 caliber rifles and a 1-20 in their .45 calibers. They shoot a very long heavy conical bullet with some amazing accuracy. I never shot a Savage but heard they are great shooters. Also heard they no longer produce the muzzleloaders.
