I recently bought a savage mark II just for some plinking and squirrel hunting. I bought a set of weaver mounts and a set of weaver 30mm scope rings. I'm not sure what kind if scope is good for a savage mark II, so I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or recommendations. Also, I'm opposed to buying new rings if I need to.

You could pick a 4x32 or 3-9x40 Nikon rimfire scope. If you want something bigger, check out the Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12 or 6-18. They all take 1" rings.
In my experience, it is better to go with a rimfire/airgun scope, either with a fixed parallax setting or adjustable.
