hey everyone. I was going to get a long range gun just to try and get into some long range shooting. hopeing to get up to 1,000 yards. The calibers i hopeing to get are 7.62x51, 308, and a 7mm rem mag. i want mil dots for the reticle and target adjustment knobs(basically a tactical scope). i seen on siper shows where the military uses 10x scope. i wasnt sure what to use then because i would thinnk you would use a variable power one. does variable power effect how you determine range and everything? i really wanted to get something with a lot of magnification. anyway i was hoping you could help me out with this because its been annoying me on what to get haha.

I have heard a lot of good things about Burris XTR line of scopes, they have all the features you listed and as far as I am concerned are about the best deal for the money. It all depends on how much your willing to spend, you can get a "tactical" scope from anywhere from $100 to upwards of $3000, your budget is really going to decide in the end.
