Paper started and wife outa town.

Does this happen every time YOUR wife travels?

Stainless 4&3/4 bbl.

I wanted accuracy, and heard these (and .41 mags) are?

Can't hardley see the sight picture but I'm willing to point!
And the cool loads are?

I have picked up a couple of those small frame Vaquaros and was really impressed with the feel of them, but have been unwilling to pay the freight of a new one.  It sounds as though you found the ideal solution.  I, for one, will be interested in the loads you find to be useful.  I believe I would start with some cast bullets of 100 grains +, maybe a truncated cone, and see how they perform.  Then maybe . . .

Let us know how they work.

Elrod,

I have had one of the "Baby" Vaqueros for a few months now.  It is a fun shooter.  I have only shot jacketed through it.  Check out Lock, Stock and Barrel; they have some "seconds" from Hornady at a low price, 85gr XTP.  Makes for cheap plinking.  Before running the cast, you might check out the throats.  Ruger does a good job on most calibers, the widely known exception being the 45 colt.  Not so widely known is they have the same problem with 32 cal.  Even the special run 32 Buckeye has .310/.311 throats.  My 32mag had .310 throats before I sent it off for reaming.

I have had good luck ith the faster powders, W231, HS6, AA5 and Titegroup.  Not so good with Unique, Blue Dot and AA7.

Let us know how it works out for you.

For my .32 Bisley I use 9.8 gr of H110. and 100 or 115 gr lead bullets.
5.0 gr Unique is another maximum load that is accurate but hard on brass.
I wonder what load these fixed sight guns are regulated for?
Starline brass is longer than Federal. You get to adjust the length to your gun. Some are chambered long. I think Starline made the brass long for the Contender shooters.

I really want a Single Six with the blue and case hardend finish. I do not care for the fake ivory grips though.
When I use a stainless gun outside they  reflect too much sunlight off the recoil plates or my taste.
