I like the look of the factory wood grips on the Redhawk, and like them for a fast one-handed double action shot.  Also, compared to rubber, the gun is a lot lighter with them.  BUT...I can not hold on to them.  My hands are too smooth. I've tried urethane and other finishes that I thought might be rubbery, but no luck yet.  Right now I'm using surfboard wax.  It works absolutely great, but does not last.  Does anyone know of a wood finish that will grip like rubber does?  Thanks.  adk

I didn't want to checker the grips on my Old Army, and ruin the originality.
I varnished them, and sprinkled them with black sand, while wet.
This gives excellent grip, and can be returned to original by stripping the varnish off, and applying some oil.
