I inherited a pre war 42 Winchester .410 from my grandfather. He was a big man, and back in the 50's, he took a rasp to the cheekpiece so it would fit him better. It was just a tool to him, and in his defense, back then, 42's were not all that special and were readily available. I know it's a pre war by the sculpted pistol grip on the stock and 18 grooves on the fore end. I want to get a replacement factory stock to restore this fine shotgun. I have already tried Gun Parts, and Connecticut Shotgun, Doug Turnbull and Simmons, hoping to find a takeoff from a custom stock job, but alas, no luck. I had already spoken to a custom stock maker, and he suggested I try to get a factory replacement first. Any suggestions on where to look next.
