I have load data for the 7/8 oz lee key drive slug to use active 2 3/4 inch hulls (I have them) but the data asks for an ACTIVE TG-30 Wad with a .135 filler. (don't have them and can't find them). I am a new smooth-bore reloader, but committed. I have reloaded pistol and rifle for 25+ years, so I understand the need for care and caution. Please advise if you have a proven safe substitute. (I am leary of the pressure risks that I read about with shotgun reloading so, until I learn more about what's what with shotshells, I want to stay safe). I am new to this forum, but have been reading the posts for about a month now. I will have more than a few questions. Thanks in advance. rhouser

Try these guys:

http://www.ballisticproducts.com/

If they don't have it, likely no one does. Or they may have advise on a tested & proven substitute.

Or ask the manufacturer for a list of resellers / distributors. Glad you asked, shotshell loads are no place to get creative with load components...... hope you can find what you need.

Replacements for ACTIV Wads, No success with Ballistics Products

Following up on my earlier Post, MikeG had wisely suggested I contact BP for assistance in finding a safe substitute for the ACTIV tg-30 Wad. (7/8 oz Lee key drive slug). For the record Ballistics Products answer was more or less as follows.

1. They didn't have any load data worked up on the 7/8 oz
Lee Key Drive slug.

2. Since they didn't have any load data, they couldn't make any recommendation on a substitution for the ACTIV wad.

3. No, they could not give me a functionally equivilant WAD number (same height weight use type etc) by any other maker.

In this day of lawsuiting for sport and profit, I can't really complain about their answer. Very politically correct, but NOT very helpful.

Going through the 2 years previous posts, I am not the first looking for this answer. Would anyone with a successful load for the 7/8 oz Lee Key Drive slug consider sharing the info? thanks in advance....
