I bought a large loop lever for my 94AE (357) to replace the regular one ont he gun right now. It is identical in every way, except that the original has a small steel clip at the top of it attatched with a tiny screw, and the replacement (large loop) does not.

I swapped the levers anyways, and it seems to work just fine. Am I going to have problems later on? Does anyone know what the clip does?

The clip holds the next round in the magazine straight and will prevent a cartridge jumping the cartridge stop and sliding under the lifter casuing a double feed. There are several threads on theBeartooth forum about the little clip.

Here are a few threads to get you started.
There was a good thread on this subject on the UK GunTrader forum.

I did an advanced search for these threads and there are others but I only looked for those I had participated in – my name and 357 will be highlighted when you use these links –
I think!

Well, at least the 357 is highlighted. You could do others a favor by taking a picture of the clip and posting it on the thread. I have intended to do this but always seem to miss out when we have the rifle apart.
