[In the mess of my basement, I found some 50 and 54 cal Cabela's brand Sabots...and this is my first blackpowder rifle. Who would have known? I like those Maxi-Balls sabots ]
AFAIK, The T/C Maxi-Balls are not saboted rounds - they are lead boolits with grooves for lube.
The T/C Maxi-Hunter is the HP version.
While sabots CAN be fired/used in your Renegade (is it a caplock ?), the plastic tends to build up in the bore.
I've found that my T/C's perform MUCH better after their bore's seasoned wiith T/C's Ox-Yoke Bore Butter 1000+, and Maxi's lubed with the same, or lead RB's that have patches lubed with the BB.
Extreme cold weather shooters prefer a thinner lube, though.
Use loose powder, either Pyro/777/etc or Holy Black - sidehammers won't reliable ignite pellets due to the pellet's ignition compound on one end for inlines ILO all over.
I use 100-grain ( by volume, NOT weight) charges with my conicals - but you should try various powder levels to see what's most accurate in your rifle - AND what treats YOUR shoulder good.
If your Renegade's a caplock, do yourself a favor and install a Hot Shot nipple.
