I have and shoot lots of guns. The most accurate is a Ruger #1 25-06. This gun will shoot 2 inch groups at 400 yards. I like this gun , I was wondering what your most accurate gun is?Q

Sold it a couple of months ago. Remington 788 in 222 Remington. Right now it is a toss up between my Sako Vixen in 222 Remington Magnum and my Encore in 204 Ruger.

AlleninAlaska, to bad you weren't closer I'da taken that old worn out 788 off your hands. My 788 in .223 is probably my most acurate gun right now. followed closely by my 788 in what else?? .222. To bad they don't make them like that anymore.

Currently a Rem Mod 700 in 17 Rem that was rebarreled in a - IIRC - a Shilen target grade semi-heavy barrel. Haven't shot it on paper beyond 100 yards, but at that it's a 3/8" - 1/2" shooter, and it slays varmints pretty consistently out to 300 yards. On various days, a Win Mod 70 XTR (post-'64) 25-06, Browning A-bolt 338 WM, and Mauser VZ24 6.5-06 will give the 17 a run.

X3 on a 788 in .222. Being a dummy I traded mine years ago for a 700 in 22-250. Even after tuning it up the 700 was never the shooter that .222 was. All wasn't lost on that experience though, now I never get rid of anything that shoots exceptionally well.

My most accurate now is a Savage model 12 in .223

that'd have to be my 6.5X55AI... it's an 1899 oberndorf action(still cock on close)with a shilen #3 bbl in a boyds dakota will stock. i've got an older leupold M-8 fixed 7.5 power scope on it and at 100 yards it will put 5 shots into one obround hole every time. it seems to consistantly be a 1/4" gun, i've been using the 130gr barnes tsx fb bullets and ramshot magnum but i'm gonna work up a comparable load with the 129 gr hornady since they are more economical to shoot.
ramshot magnum seems to be great in this cartridge, i'm getting just under 3,000fps and no pressure signs at all. could probably get at least another 100fps or more but don't really see the need, i figure that if a 130 tsx 6.5 bullet @3000 won't do it then i need to go to a 300 or larger.

i can shoot a 1 shot, 0" group with any rifle i've ever used :p

Seriously though, all the rifles i currently have here are hunting rifles, sighted in by my dad. as long as each bullet lands in the 1" circle while cold, it's fine.

having said that, the Rem. 597 in .22 WMR will occasionally cloverleaf at 100 yards.

It's a toss-up between my pre-64 Model 70 in 220 Swift, and my 25-06, built up with a Hart match barrel on a pre-64 Model 70 action. Both give 1/4" to 3/8" 5-shot groups at 100 yards.

Just out of the box or without tuning, these three have impressed me and all will shoot 3/8 in groups or better with a 3X9 scope.

700 Classic in 25-06, 117 gr Sierra, AA3100

M77(tang safety) Varmint .243, 87 gr H-vmax, AA4350

and last but not least the most accurate, a 722 in 222 Rem Mag; it will near one hole with a beat up ole Weaver K6 and factory ammo. Reloads with the old style Hornady soft point equal that. Got 20 boxes of factory ammo with it but have a buyer for that.

The most accurate out of the box guns across the board has to be the 788. Thieves got mine, a LH 6mm. Have had 22-250's but shot the barrels out of them and let them go.

Gotta say pisgah that those Brown single shots are sure a dandy looking gun. If and when I ever shoot out the barrel on my #1 it's going to have one of their barrels put in it. Sure wish I could afford one of their guns.

I'd have a tough time affording one today myself. When I bought mine 8 years ago, they had no "stock" rifles -- all were custom made-to-order -- and the price since then has gone up nearly $600! Glad I made up my mind to go ahead and get one back then. The only change I would make if ordering one today -- realizing now how compact they are, I would have gone with a 26" barrel rather than a 24". But, I have no regrets!
