Since many of us enjoy discussions on cartridges and their use for hunting I thought I would mention "The Rifle, Its Development for Big Game Hunting" by S.R. Truesdell.
This book is a compilation of hunting and cartridge information from many the most famous sportsmen and hunters, from the muxxle loaders up through the 1940's. The book is a wonder. It is probably best that this book be previewed through your local library before purchase. An interlibrary loan got this book for me several times before I purchased it. It is in print with Safari Press. There are newer books on the subject of killing power but this book is unique.
